Starting in Rovaniemi, experience the rush of driving a high-performance snowmobile through pristine snow-covered forests of the Arctic Circle. Our Snowmobile Safari is the perfect opportunity to learn how to drive snowmobiles—whether you’re a beginner or experienced driver seeking an efficient Arctic adventure.

This tour lasts 2 hours and 30 minutes total, including safety instruction, gear preparation, and your 1 to 1.5-hour snowmobile ride. The activity level is easy, making it suitable for most fitness levels. We keep groups small—maximum 8 guests—to ensure personalized attention and safety. Our guides speak English and Spanish fluently.

To drive a snowmobile, you must have a valid car driving license (B category). This is a legal requirement in Finland. Children can ride on the back as passengers—they just need to be tall enough to sit safely (minimum 140cm).

What to Expect on Your Snowmobile Adventure

Your experience begins with a professional safety briefing at our heated facility. Our certified guides will teach you how to operate the snowmobile, including acceleration, braking, turning, and safe handling on snow terrain. Don’t worry—we train everyone, whether you’ve never touched a snowmobile before or you’re an experienced rider.

Once you’re comfortable with the controls, we head into the Arctic wilderness. You’ll drive for approximately 1 to 1.5 hours through quiet, snow-covered forests, depending on your group’s skill level and current snow conditions. The route takes you deep into pristine Lapland landscape where you’ll see untouched forests, frozen lakes, and the raw beauty of the Arctic.

For more skilled drivers, this tour is perfect if you don’t have much time in your itinerary but don’t want to lose the chance to enjoy a deep snow adventure. We stop at scenic viewpoints along the way so you can photograph the landscape, rest, and absorb the Arctic experience.

Important Safety Requirements

Your Driving License

To drive a snowmobile in Finland, you must have a valid car driving license (B category). You must bring your physical license with you—a digital copy won’t work. We check this before the tour starts.

Passengers (Children)

Children can ride as passengers on the back of the snowmobile, provided they’re at least 140cm tall and can sit safely.

Age & Sobriety

Drivers must be at least 18 years old. You cannot operate a snowmobile if you’ve been drinking alcohol or using drugs.

Health Considerations

If you have any illness or disability, please let us know in advance so we can discuss if participation is possible. This tour is not recommended for pregnant guests (3 months or more).

Damage Liability

If you damage the snowmobile during the tour, you’re responsible for repair costs up to €750. We offer an optional damage waiver for €30 per snowmobile, which reduces your maximum liability to €150. The waiver can only be purchased at our office immediately before the tour starts.

Speed & Safety

For everyone’s safety, snowmobiles on this tour are limited to 40 km/h.

What to Bring with You

Essential

Bring your physical car driving license (required by Finnish law). Wear warm personal clothing in layers—we provide thermal gear, but your own warm clothes underneath (thermal base layers, thick sweater, insulated jacket) will keep you more comfortable.

Recommended

A camera is essential if you want to capture the Arctic landscape. Sunscreen and lip balm are important because the Arctic sun reflects intensely off snow. Hand and toe warmers (chemical heat packs) are optional but make a huge difference in extreme cold.

Best Time for Your Snowmobile Safari

This tour operates from November through March, when reliable snow coverage makes snowmobile driving possible and safe. The best conditions are December through February, when temperatures are consistently cold, snow is deepest, and winter weather is most stable.
